Last Saturday at Mill Creek Retriever Club’s Working Certificate trials one dog stole the spotlight!!! and no this time it wasn’t a Barbet. LOL.

Jim Boomer’s 10 month old yellow Labrador ‘Prairiestorm’s Shoot to Thrill’ earned his WC/I/X titles in one day Jim and Tanner train almost everyday whether on their own, with MCRC, or with John Hamilton. Chris and I had the honour to watch Tanner accomplish such a feat. Possibly the youngest Canadian dog out there. Congratulations Jim and Tanner!

Today’s MCRC Working Certificate trials were a pleasant surprise for the club. SHHHHH! Amazing ‘retriever news’ coming up next but in the mean time a sneak peak of today’s events.

We love it when our puppies come for a visit to play with their Barbet family while their human families are away on a trip. It gives us lots of time to get to know our puppies, like Guimauve whom left at 3 months old to go live with Kris and Reneé of countrydogcitylife. We haven’t seen this baby girl for 5 months. Boy has she grown up. It’s moments like these that are so preciously captured on film!

I was just uploading the last batch of photos from the camera and realized how much fun this years All About Pets show was with good friends and a lot of Barbet. It was nice to see some of our families bring their puppy’s back to help promote the breed and share their stories about owning a Barbet Lots of fun! We got to see Ruby, Bodhi, Hugo, Brie, Koda, Brogan and Beanie all during this Easter’s 3 day stretch. YIPPIE!

Not all of our information is yet up from the old ‘Friendly Barbet’ site, so we will be doing that real soon. This new website is more user friendly to me, lol, so it will be easier for us to grow as our ‘Barbet family’ gets bigger

“Helsinki Project” – Barbet Genome Research

WE GAVE BLOOD!!! This past weekend, with the help of Carol Durham and Paula Ballak, we were able to draw blood from our 5 dogs to send away to Finland for the “Helsinki Project” – Barbet Genome Research.

This has been something we have wanted to do for quite some time and we’re so glad we can now be a part of the research to help find the epilepsy gene in the Barbet. Woohoo!

Our friendly Madzia as she goes by, will be having her second litter this year. It has been about a year and a half since her Nappyroots ‘A’ litter and after taking a break rejuvenating, competing for her Working Certificate title and having some fun, she is ready to raise some kids again. Madzia is friendly, loving and a very caring mom.

This will be our Nappyroots ‘C’ litter, breeding to take place April/May with puppies due end of June/beginning of July. Bred for health, structure, temperament, type and working ability.

Disque D’or owned by Biscay Waterdogs or Disco as he’s known is the brother to our Daphne. He has fathered two healthy and beautiful litters: Biscay’s ‘V’ litter and Gingko’s ‘C’ litter. He is a very mellow and laid back dude.
